Entry requirements: To ensure students are prepared for the demands of GCSE PE, students must be interested and passionate about a range of sports and be invested in both the physical and theoretical aspects of the subject. Having sound knowledge of Biology is essential, as this provides the foundation to the understanding the body functions and how it responds to physical activity which is a key element of the Paper 1 exam.
For the practical element of the PE course, students will be assessed in three sports. We require all students to participate and compete in at least two of those sports to a minimum of club level outside of school, Island level or at a higher standard. Students must be committed to participating competitively in their physical activity over the 2-year course.
Why Study PE?
Physical Education is a varied subject which offers links with Biology and Food and Nutrition. You will develop your knowledge of health and fitness and acquire a variety of life skills such as leadership, communication, teamwork, organisation and the ability to critically analyse. These skills are highly valued in further education and the world of work.
Students will take part in theory and practical lessons in school and are required to gain video evidence of the sports that they perform in outside of school.
